Happening This Week

A Thought and Prayer for the Week…
Yesterday’s scripture from Luke 2:22-40 told a beautiful story about Jesus’ presentation in the Temple. The painting below offers one artist’s idea of what that beautiful moment might have looked like.

Can’t you just feel the warmth, joy, love, and peace? Don’t you wish you were there? I pray we can all learn from Simeon and Anna’s example of “Holy Anticipation.” Let’s expect God to show up this week. Let’s look for God in the face of every person we meet. Let’s listen for God in the voice we hear. Let’s expect God to keep the promises God has made. Such an approach to life will fill us with warmth, joy, love, and peace.

Prayer for the First Sunday after Christmas
Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
